The Earache label, illustrious for its roster of coarse grindcore acts of the Apostles -- Godflesh, Carcass, Fudge Tunnel -- touched into the appealing humans of hard-core gabber techno with the sign language of Ultraviolence, masterminded by one Johnny Violent. His number 1, self-financed production was the "Clapperclaw" single, which appeared in 1991 on his have label. After the recording of a John Peel session in 1992, he gestural to Food Records (as well the dwelling of Jesus Jones). Violent didn't rather fit in with the house leanings of Food and released only the Retribution EP before moving to Earache. Fitting in rather well with the industrial attitude of Scorn, he recorded singles both as Ultraviolence ("I, Destructor") and as himself ("Reb Is a Bastard") before his debut Ultraviolence full-length appeared in 1994. The record album, Animation of Destructor, was followed by Psychodrama one class later. By 1996, Johnny Violent reverted to his own name for the whole step ending of Shocker, as well on Earache; Ultraviolence's Violent death God followed in 1998.

Max B earns an A for arrogance

Max B was rapper Jim Jones cool aide.

Max B, an MC from Harlem, N.Y., wrote the lyrics for Jones We Fly High, a track better known to fans as Ballin. Whats more, Max B takes credit entry for originating the bluster Dipset ringleader Jones claims as his own, a clear foretoken that their working relationship is history.

Im not sulfurous, Im just trying to make things right, B said from his Yonkers, N.Y., studio. I saved rap and people dont acknowledge it. I made the music wavelike. I brought my have lingo to the game.

In addition to the word of honor wavy, which B uses to discover just about everything, hes also hood famous for the catch phrase oooowwww.

Ridiculous?

Not to thousands of inner city kids shouting it on playgrounds and street corners across the country.

Its my own Spanish, you know what Im saying?, said B, who plays the Middle East in Cambridge Thursday.

If theres one thing B is more famous for than his slogans, its his trend to feel trouble. In 2006, he was arrested for allegedly masterminding a murder and attempted robbery in New Jersey. After serving seven-spot months in prison, he was temporarily freed by Jones, wHO posted the $2 million bail.

B is still awaiting trial and declines to discuss legal issues or any other specifics regarding his case. But he is uncoerced to spank his legal and industry nemeses.

People hate on me because I (expletive) all the women and I still calculate good, B said. I drive a big car and live in a heavy condo, so theyre all on my (backside). It is what it is. Im still Wavy Crockett.

Since his very public falling out with Jones and other Dipset members, B has stayed relevant by maintaining a torrential mixtape output. The latest in his Public Domain series, Domain Pain, dropped utmost week on East Boston label Amalgam Digital, and B promises at least five more unofficial discs before years end.

People ar starting to realize that I score mixtapes the way that other the great unwashed make albums, B said. I have original beats and choruses on my songs. I dont need to make a proper album. I make the superlative music on the planet.

No false modestness for this MC, wHO is teaming with Amalgam to phonograph recording Vigilante Season. The magnetic disc, largely produced by DMX beatmaker Dame Grease, will be his first official, bar-coded tone ending in a career dashed with legal problems and beefs with rival rappers.

You can hear the pain in the neck and the frustration on Vigilante Season, but you can too hear the maturity and pureness, B said. Im pickings out the Milli Vanilli rappers with this one. I put my life and my soul into this medicine. I defy whoever thinks they fanny challenge me to step up to the home. Ill terminal their career.

Max B, with Stucat, Nancia, Wally Sparks, Lecks and DJ On&On, at the Middle East, Cambridge, Thursday. Tickets: $15 in advance, $17 day of show; 617-864-EAST.

Jason Bateman - Bateman Ditches Alcohol

JUNO star JASON BATEMAN has gone teetotal after his wife persuaded him to give up alcohol.

The 39-year-old star hasn't had a drink in four years and puts his newfound clean living down to a desire to grow up and leave his adolescence behind.

Bateman also credits his wife with helping him give up booze - because she never liked him drinking.

He says, "I've spent all my fun chips and now I've parked my drinking boots in the closet. I haven't had a drink in four years. There wasn't any real specific bottom to it. I was just ready to graduate from adolescence and try my hand at being an adult.

"And, quite honestly, the woman I was in love with was not really that tolerant of it, so I turned it off."

Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler and Taylor Swift to Host 'CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock' on ABC

NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 6 -- It's a raucous girls' night
out when "Dancing with the Stars" champion Julianne Hough, former "American
Idol" finalist Kellie Pickler and reigning CMA Horizon Award winner Taylor
Swift host "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" Monday, Sept. 8
(9:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.

"The summer's hottest concert special, just got hotter with the
addition of these three beautiful, talented performers as hosts," said CMA
Chief Executive Officer Tammy Genovese. "They are all America's sweethearts
and I know they will each add sparkle and fun to a great night of musical
performances."

Filming Thursday through Sunday, June 5-8, during the annual CMA Music
Festival, the special features today's most exciting Country Music stars
during a four-day party and music celebration in Nashville.

Some of the artists already announced to appear at the Nightly Concerts
on the VAULT(TM) Concert Stage at LP Field include Trace Adkins, Rodney
Atkins, Billy Ray Cyrus, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Jewel, Miranda Lambert,
Pickler, Sugarland, Swift, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood, Dwight Yoakam,
and surprise appearances by Country superstars -- a hallmark of the
Festival.

The annual event is unlike any other: four days, 30 hours of autograph
signings, 100 hours of live music, hundreds of artists and celebrities, and
a party list of thousands of avid, singing and dancing-till-dawn fans. This
is the fourth time ABC will broadcast this special -- which invites the
whole country to America's biggest Country Music bash. Originally started
as Fan Fair(R) in 1972, last year the event experienced its biggest
attendance to date -- 191,000.

In addition to exciting, never-before-televised music performances,
viewers will also enjoy the ultimate, Country Music fan experience. In
exclusively shot segments for the special, the cameras will capture behind-
the-scenes moments between the artist and their fans and follow the stories
of several passionate Country Music enthusiasts.

Most people know Hough as winner of two consecutive seasons of ABC's
"Dancing with the Stars," but her passion is Country Music. She recently
released her self-titled, debut on Mercury Nashville and her current
single, "That Song In My Head," is climbing Billboard's Hot Country Songs.
She will be on tour throughout the summer with Brad Paisley. Hough is no
stranger to the Festival. She made her first CMA Music Festival appearance
in 2007, when she introduced Big & Rich.

Undoubtedly one of the most popular finalists on "American Idol,"
Pickler's legion of fans continues to grow. She just released her new
single, "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" from her forthcoming sophomore
album, which will be available in late summer. Her Gold certified debut
album, Small Town Girl, includes the hit singles "Red High Heels" and "I
Wonder," a song that moved many in the audience to tears when she performed
it in November on the 2007 CMA Awards.

What a difference a year makes. Swift has gone from High School student
to bonafide Country superstar with a treasure trove of accolades and awards
including the coveted 2007 CMA Horizon Award. Swift is consistently ranked
Country's No. 1 artist on MySpace and was named Country Music's Hottest
Female Artist of 2007 by AOL Music and Best New Artist of 2007 by the
editors of iTunes. Her self titled, Big Machine debut has surpassed sales
of 3 million copies and this summer she is on tour with CMA Vocal Group of
the Year Rascal Flatts.

"CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" is executive-produced by
Robert Deaton and directed by Gary Halvorson. The 2008 CMA Music Festival
is organized and produced by the Country Music Association. "CMA Music
Festival: Country's Night to Rock" will be shot in high definition and
broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1
channel surround sound.

For information, logos and downloadable photos, visit our media-only
website, http://www.CMApress.com. Photos and information will be posted on the
site daily during the Festival for media use.

Dr - Clapton Nelson Join Dr John On Angry New Orleans Album

Jazz and blues legend DR. JOHN has recorded a heartfelt homage to his native New Orleans with Eric Clapton and Willie Nelson.

Like many locals, Dr. John was left devastated when Hurricane Katrina destroyed the Louisiana city in 2005, and he's upset by the ongoing struggles there.

And so he rounded up friends like Clapton, Nelson, punk icon Ani DiFranco and film composer Terence Blanchard to join him as guests on his new album City That Care Forgot.

Clapton joins Dr. John on the track Time For A Change, while Nelson features on Promises, Promises.
